Welcome to the Lodge and Resort

Its purity unrefined takes you back in time
The Resort
originated as the OK Placer Mine Claim back in 1904 after homesteaders and
settlers came to Eastern
Kern
County
to pan for their fortune during the early stages of the Gold Rush Era.
The
Kern
River
Canyon was home to
numerous resorts and bath houses featuring natural mineral springs.
The mineral water was believed to cure many
ailments and the Native Indians felt the natural springs were a place of peace
and healing.
The
profitability of the mineral water was significant to the conversion of the mine
into what was then called The Democrat Springs Health Resort.
The resort named in honor of the local reigning
political party was a place of relaxation and recreational activities such as
tennis, deer hunting and trout fishing.
The resort grew to become a weekend getaway for
those traveling through central
California
outlasting numerous bath house competitors of the area. With a fifteen room
hotel and cottages to house one hundred guests and known for its western
hospitality, the resort offered entertainment, dining and accommodation.
Closed to the
public for more than thirty years, the resort is once again ready to be brought
to life for private events.
Preservation
to its original natural charm is key to its proprietors.
